ECU Art Collection

About the ECU Art Collection

The Edith Cowan University Art Collection is a dynamic and evolving reflection of the best in Australian and Western Australian art. Managed by the Art, Culture and Collections (ACC) team, the collection reflects ECU's deep commitment to embedding art into the daily experiences of students, staff, and the broader community. This mission is realised through accessible public displays across ECU campuses, ongoing acquisitions to enrich the collection, active engagement in the arts ecosystem via curated exhibitions, programming, publications, and collaborative partnerships, teaching and learning and research initiatives.

The Collection as it now came together in 1991 after the amalgamation of tertiary colleges and the Claremont Teachers College formed the basis for Edith Cowan University. Each former organisation had its own art collection which was then brought together to form what is now the ECU Art Collection. The Collections referenced in the title of this area refers to our responsibility to also care for other objects and archival ephemera and ECU's historical piano Collection held by WAAPA.

Notice of Temporary Moratorium on Artwork Installations

Due to current resourcing demands and the focus on the closure of the Mount Lawley campus, there will be a temporary pause on new artwork installations across ECU campuses. This moratorium is intended to ensure our collection continues to be managed responsibly and sustainably during this transition period. We thank you for your understanding and continued support of the ECU Art Collection. There will be further communication when the program reopens.
