Based at ECU Joondalup Campus, People and Culture play a key role in developing and measuring strategies to attract, recruit and retain quality staff.
This is achieved through a range of policies and practices aimed at creating a workplace that is welcoming, inclusive, healthy and progressive.
The Centre is organised around dedicated teams responsible for the ongoing administration of People and Culture policies and procedures across the University.
The team provides standards of governance and expert advice to line managers and employees on the full range of staffing operations in the employee life-cycle. This covers organisation structures, job roles and change methodology, recruitment and selection, on-boarding new staff, staff performance, attraction and retention strategies and staff exit procedures.
The Organisational Development team provides organisational development services for the University through capability enhancing initiatives and programs that support the University’s strategic goals and priorities. Key programs of work that fall under the Organisational Development area are: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment and success programs, Employee Engagement, Employee Performance and Career Development, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion programs and initiatives, and Remuneration and Reward frameworks.
The Learning and Capability team support the development of knowledge, skills and capability of ECU staff by working with various areas across ECU and beyond to create required and recommended learning resources and courses. The Learning and Capability team work in partnership with a range of stakeholders across the University and beyond to develop and support leadership pathways to enrich ECU leaders’ development. The team manages the Staff Learning Management System to ensure compliance to required training is achieved.
The Employee Relations team provide advice and expertise covering enterprise bargaining, employer/employee representation, workplace investigation, e.g. misconduct, fraud and corruption, grievance processes, and case management services.
The Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing team support ECU in creating a safe, healthy and inclusive environment for staff, students and visitors. The team provides guidance on risk management, incident reporting and investigation, health and safety compliance, injury management and workers compensations, ergonomics and wellbeing initiatives to promote a proactive safety culture across the University.
