Considering a Masters by Research, PhD or Professional Doctorate

What is a Masters by Research degree?

A Masters by Research typically involves one year of research skills development units before embarking on a year-long research program which culminates in the submission of a thesis. Our Masters by Research degrees are generally two years full-time (or the equivalent part-time study), depending on the discipline.

What is a PhD?

A PhD is a significant research degree program culminating the submission of a thesis. This typically involves three years of research which results in the submission of a thesis.

What is a Professional Doctorate?

A Professional Doctorate involves some coursework units and a significant research program that includes the submission of a thesis.

Before you apply

You should discuss your potential research topic and the availability of possible supervisors with the Postgraduate Coordinator prior to submission of an Application for Admission.
