Thesis submission

Theses should be submitted for examination with a memorandum signed by you and your supervisor.

Master by Research students submit three copies of the text component of their thesis to Research Assessments, Student Services Centre.

PhD and Professional Doctorate students should submit four copies of the text component of their thesis to Research Assessments, Student Services Centre, which should be submitted in a temporary spiral binding.

Submission of the thesis – after examination

After the thesis has been examined and corrections to the thesis have been made and approved, you are required to provide the following to Research Assessments, Student Services Centre:

  • a digital copy of the entire thesis (text component of the thesis and, if applicable, any supporting material in digital form) in an electronic format approved by the University Library; and
  • a signed copy of the thesis submission form and any supporting documentation.

Retention of theses

Research Assessments, Student Services Centre shall send to the University Library a digital copy of the entire thesis.

The University Library shall deposit the digital master for permanent retention in the University archives. Electronic full text copies of theses will be made available to all ECU staff and students via the Library Catalogue (password protected) and to the wider community via the institutional repository (open access).

The submission of a thesis by a candidate authorises the University to make the thesis available for the purpose of private study and research via library loan, document delivery and inclusion in online digital repositories such Research Online

Lodgement of non-standard theses

A non-standard thesis comprises a text component (exegesis) plus supporting material (e.g. book, CD-ROM, DVD). After a thesis has been examined and corrections to the thesis have been made and approved if required, you should submit a digital copy of the entire thesis (text component and, if applicable, any supporting material in digital form) in an electronic format approved by the University Library to Research Assessments (SSC).
