Project title:

  • Community Organising for Climate Justice: A Feminist Participatory Action Research Collaboration in Western Australia

Summary of thesis:

This research project aims to document, develop, test and evaluate effective collective action strategies for climate justice in Western Australia. The project’s methodology is informed by Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR) and entails a community-research partnership with Climate Justice Union of Western Australia (CJU) to co-design and co-produce the research.  The study will engage activists and advocates to create knowledge and action that will 1) contribute to scholarship on social movement strategies and climate justice through an intersectional, decolonial and eco-feminist lens, and 2) contribute to the generation of practical knowledge and tools for the movement CJU in support of its objective to “accelerate a fair and just transition to net zero emissions, prepare and adapt to climate change impacts, while taking care of people and place”.
