Staff profile

When updating your profile it may be necessary for the University to verify some of the information. In these situations you will be contacted by Payroll Services after they receive your update requests.


Personal information:

Salutation:The title appearing before your name. Common values include 'Ms','Mrs','Miss','Mr','Dr','Prof'
Preferred Name:The name by which you prefer to be referred. This is the field displayed in the online search, even though your first name is also searched. Common values include abbreviations such as: Sam instead of Samuel; Second name instead of first name.
First Name:Your name as it appears on your Birth Certificate or Passport.
Surname:Your surname (or family name) as it appears on your Birth Certificate or Passport.
E-mail :Your ECU email address, which is usually created automatically when your initial employment at ECU starts. If you are unsure as to what your email address is you can lodge an enquiry with the IT Service Desk. Typically 'initial.surname@ecu.edu.au'

Position specific information:

If you currently have more than position at ECU, or if you are also performing 'higher duties' you will have more than one position record. Update each record to include the details appropriate for that position. NB: If you are performing other duties concurrently, such as a secondment, the secondment details will replace your normal (substantive) duties for the duration of the secondment.

Position Title:The official title of your position.
Discipline/Department:This is automatically determined from your position.
School/Centre:This is automatically determined from your position.
Section/Unit:This is automatically determined from your position.
  You should contact Payroll Services if you believe your 'Position title', 'Faculty/Centre', 'School/Department', or 'Section/Unit' to be incorrect.
CampusThis should be the main campus at which you work for this position.
Building:This should be the main room at which you work for this position. It should be stored in the following format (X.), such '1.' for building 1
Room:This should be the main room at which you work for this position. It should be stored in the following format (XXX), such '201'
Telephone:Your telephone number for this position, typically just the extension. The prefixes are automatically added by the online search. It should be stored in the following format (XXXX), such as '6000'
Mobile:Your mobile number, if applicable for this position. It should be stored in the following format (XXXX XXX XXX), such '0400 000 111'
Facsimile:Your facsimile number for this position. The prefixes are automatically added by the online search. It should be stored in the following format (XXXX), such as '8000'
