ECU Peer Leadership Program

The ECU Peer Leadership Program is offered to undergraduate students at the University.

This program assists new students in building social and academic networks so they settle more quickly into life as a student and have a more successful, productive and positive personal and academic experience.

The program links first-year students with more experienced students in their course or study area.

Mentoring groups are led by these later-year students, who have volunteered and trained to be mentors. Groups meet several times during the semester in person and via Microsoft Teams to chat about their university experiences. Mentors are a great source of information and a sounding board for questions and concerns about life at ECU.

How to get involved

You can get involved with our peer mentoring program in one of two ways:

  • as a mentee, if you are new to ECU or feel like you would benefit from some peer support
  • as a mentor, if you are a second year student or above and would like to provide peer support and guidance to fellow students
