Other Learning Abroad Opportunities

Studying overseas as part of your degree can be academically and personally rewarding whilst adding value to your ECU degree.  In addition to the many ECU short term programs and student exchange partnerships, there are a number of other learning abroad opportunities available to students by other providers.

A large number of the programs are short term (between 2-6 weeks long) and are offered during the semester breaks.  Some providers also have Internships and Work Integrated Learning programs. These organisations have onsite staff providing a great source of advice, support, and information for students abroad.

If you are considering studying overseas, you are encouraged to speak to your Course Coordinator to see how an activity may complement your studies and whether you can obtain credit towards your degree.  You will then be required to complete a Credit Transfer Form: Credit Transfer Form.

Should your activity receive credit, you may be able to receive an OS-HELP loan to fund your learning abroad journey. “OS-HELP” is an Australian Government loan scheme to cover some of the expenses associated with the overseas study, such as airfares, accommodation and other travel or study expenses. For further information, please visit ECU’s intranet website: OS-HELP Loan or contact Student Central.

You are encouraged to review your insurance carefully if you are travelling overseas. Many learning abroad providers will offer travel insurance to students participating in their programs. If you are travelling as part of your degree, you may be entitled to ECU’s Travel insurance. For further information on the policy please visit: ECU's Travel Insurance. You will then be required to complete a Student Travel Approval Form and submit to the Student Hub.

The following providers offer a range of learning abroad activities.

Before embarking on any external program, you should ensure the activity is right for you and meets your academic and personal learning outcomes.
