The overall aim of my thesis is to uncover how genetic information can predict future risk of symptom progression towards Alzheimer’s dementia in those not yet meeting clinical criteria. There is a specific focus on capitalising on powerful statistical and computational approaches to identify new associations and model how they interact. People vary considerably at this stage and it is important to understand why and how this occurs. Well-characterised and accurate risk predictions will allow for early preventative action to be taken, and the biological pathways associated with the genetic information could identify potential targets for early intervention.
