Dr. Nasreena Waheed is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at the ECU School of Nursing and Midwifery. She brings a strong blend of national and international clinical experience, alongside extensive academic expertise, to her teaching and research.

Background
Nasreena began her nursing career in 1996, working across a variety of clinical settings in Pakistan until 2000. She then moved to the Maldives, where she spent nearly a decade advancing from Registered Nurse to Nurse Unit Manager. In Australia, she has worked in emergency departments in both South Australia and the Northern Territory. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a Master of Nursing from two Group of Eight (Go8) universities in Australia and later completed a doctoral degree in Public Health. Throughout her academic journey, she was awarded multiple merit scholarships in recognition of her excellence.
Since 2009, Nasreena has worked in higher education, teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs and contributing to curriculum development, quality assurance, and student support. She has held key leadership roles, including serving as the Postgraduate Nursing Course Coordinator at both Charles Darwin University and Flinders University. During her time at CDU, she was also elected to the Academic Board, contributing to governance and academic quality across the institution.
At Flinders University, Nasreena served as an Academic Integrity Officer, providing leadership in academic integrity education, case management, and policy implementation. Her extensive clinical background, leadership experience, and research training collectively inform her teaching, research, and ongoing commitment to strengthening health outcomes and enhancing learning experiences in higher education.
