Dr Shannon Dee

Post Doctoral Research Fellow - Coastal Ecologist

Staff Member Details
Email: s.dee@ecu.edu.au

Shannon is a postdoctoral research fellow within the Centre for Marine Ecosystem Research.

Background

Dr Shannon Dee is an early career researcher who studies ecosystem interactions and functions, with a particular interest in marginal reef systems. Shannon completed a PhD from Curtin University in 2022, where her research focused on inshore coral reefs of northwest Western Australia which are exposed to harsh fluctuations in turbidity, temperature and salinity. She is now researching the ecological significance of intertidal habitats of the same coastline as a post-doctoral research fellow within the Centre for Marine Ecosystem Research.

Between finishing her PhD and beginning her current postdoctoral position, Shannon worked as a marine environmental consultant and commercial diver. Within this role Shannon worked on projects across coastline management, water quality, turtle nesting habitat monitoring, and seagrass monitoring.
