Day held annually on the second Thursday of the month, reminding us about the power of conversations and connections. This year (10 September) was particularly special with staff and students coming together in shared activations.
While the day itself provides an opportunity to check in with those around us, the message extends far beyond a single date. Building a mentally healthy environment is about making every day an R U OK? day. Whether you are checking in on a friend or seeking support yourself, remember that no issue is too trivial, no concern is too small, and it is never too early or late to reach out.
At the ECU South West's Bunbury Campus, community members enjoyed a sausage sizzle alongside free massages, a smoothie bike run by the South West Student Guild and a fantastic performance of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Students attended an introductory mental health and wellbeing workshop while staff watched a live streamed presentation on managing mental health in the workplace from ECU alumna, Dr Marny Lishman.
The ECU Learning Centre Busselton had free hot drinks at the ready, with an opportunity to write on an affirmation note tree and take-home self-care kits.
If you’re finding things tough, you don’t need to go through it alone. ECU has free and confidential support services available:
