2015 marked ECU’s second annual Celebration of Giving event, which recognises the generosity and commitment of our supporters. This was the University’s opportunity to acknowledge the impact they have our students learning experiences.

No matter how our donors choose to support ECU, we are truly grateful. Gifts to the University, no matter how great or small, are not only an investment in a student’s education or our world-class research, it is an investment in the future of our community.

We welcomed supporters of our Broadcasting Student Development Fund, WAAPA projects such as our Visiting Artists Program and the Faith Court Orchestra, as well as those that provide invaluable student Scholarships or contribute to the diverse range of ECU’s research programs such as Melanoma research and Alzheimer’s research.

Mr Jayden Gerrand, a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) student and scholarship recipient, shared with our donors how he has benefited from their generosity. “Being a scholarship recipient has been of great assistance as it has helped me purchase all the necessary equipment to further my studies and provides a financial backing to take the time to find the right employment suitable for myself and my studies. It helps me to be seen as a role model for my indigenous people, as it shows that we can achieve whatever we put our minds too.”
Following a drinks reception, our donors were invited to delight in the energetic Stereo Action, performed by Defying Gravity, who united with acclaimed Visiting Artists, Marcus Perrozzi, who has recently returned from five years with Cirque du Soleil, and Indian drumming sensation Tao Issaro Mott.

The event is a wonderful way to celebrate the importance of our donors in helping ECU to achieve its vision of providing a world-class education to all, irrespective of background and financial circumstances. Our donors are truly part of something special, supporting our students to achieve their full potential.
