ECU staff unite to support students

ECU’s Staff Giving Program has created a community of staff members whose philanthropic giving and generosity are imperative to ECU’s success.
Our Staff Giving Program is about helping students achieve their dreams and reach their full potential. Employee support makes an incredible impact on our students learning experiences by contributing towards ECU’s Inspiring Minds Scholarships program for both Research Excellence and Equity.

There are students at ECU who have fought to overcome extraordinary adversity before reaching our doors. For many students, financial assistance is the deciding factor between graduating or discontinuing their studies. Our Staff Giving Program enables our students to not only shape their own futures, but to in turn give back to their community.   

Our staff gifts, no matter how great or small, is not only an investment in a students' education or our world-class research, it is an investment in the future of our community.

Thanks to the tremendous generosity of our staff members we have raised over $25,000 during the first year of establishing this program. This has provided numerous students access to a world-class education, regardless of cultural, social or financial barriers.

Two recipients of our Inspiring Minds Research Excellence Scholarship’s recently meet with our Staff Givers over lunch, to thank them for their support and share their stories. Mr Paul Symonds shared how it would not have been possible to pursue his PhD in Agricultural Machinery and Equipment if not for the scholarship due to the financial pressures of studying full time. Ms Helen Monk, undertaking a PhD in Public Health, told of how inspired she has been by the belief that the University has in her and her abilities. The financial impact of the scholarship has been immense for both recipients
