On 12 October, ECU hosted our annual Scholarship Ceremony to celebrate some of our exceptionally talented scholarship recipients, as well as recognising the generosity of the donors that make philanthropic scholarships possible.

ECU’s leadership team, led by Vice-Chancellor Steve Chapman, hosted a number of our valued donors including The Fogarty Foundation, The Haselhurst family, The Sir Frank Ledger Charitable Trust, Western Power and Perth Airport, amongst many other valued supporters of our university.

Philanthropic support means so much, both to donors and those that benefit from its funds. The act of giving is very personal, which made it very heart-warming to hear from both The Fogarty Foundation and the Sir Frank Ledger Charitable Trust in a video that was played. Those present got to understand the reasons why they choose to donate to ECU.

Mike Kendall, a Woss Family Nursing Scholarship recipient, addressed the audience to discuss his journey as a student. He spoke about how much receiving this scholarship means to him personally, and how greatly it has assisted him as he completes his studies.

Joanne Hill, an MBA student and Western Power Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarship recipient, took us on a moving journey through her upbringing and what led her to postgraduate studies at ECU. The support of her scholarship helps her greatly with contributing to her local community. Through her leadership, she inspires others around her to achieve greatness.

Scholarships make such a tremendous impact in the lives of our students; it gives recipients the encouragement and support to achieve their dreams. It’s often the belief that someone has in you that drives you to achieve greatness, and that is exactly what a scholarship provides.

To our incredible donors – the support of individuals and organisations like yours is simply invaluable, you are helping us to ensure that all of our students reach their full potential.  We cannot thank you enough.
