The ConocoPhillips Science Experience at ECU

The ConocoPhillips Science Experience provides students who have an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a variety of science activities.  An annual event, the Science Experience is hosted by 30 universities and tertiary institutions nationwide and is supported by Rotary.

ECU hosts the ConocoPhillips Science Experience at its Joondalup campus in January and NEW for 2018, at its South West (Bunbury) campus.  The program aims to boost high school students’ interest and participation in science, raise their awareness of science careers, and encourage them to study science in upper school and university.  ECU welcomes students aged 14-16 (high school Years 9-10) from across Western Australia to participate in fascinating science-based activities and workshops facilitated by a welcoming team of ECU scientists and engineers.

The 2018 program will introduce students to science disciplines and activities including, but not limited to:

  • Engineering, including Robotics and Drones;
  • Environmental Science;
  • Forensic Investigation;
  • Chemistry;
  • Conservation and Wildlife;
  • Genetics;
  • Physics;
  • Marine Biology;
  • Nursing; and
  • Computing and Cyber Security

2018 Program

Joondalup Campus
This event will run in January 2019.  Each day consists of a combination of workshops, lectures and student life activities and runs across four full days.

Date:      15-18 January 2019
Time:      09.00am-4.00pm (daily)
Venue:    ECU Joondalup Camus, 270 Joondalup Drive, Joondalup WA

Registration is required; please apply online by 12 January 2019.

Bunbury Campus
This event will run in December 2018.  Each day consists of a combination of workshops, lectures and student life activities and runs across three full days.

Date:      4-6 December
Time:      09.00am-4.00pm (daily)
Venue:    ECU South West Campus, 585 Robertson Drive, East Bunbury WA 6230

Registration is required; please apply online by 12 January 2019.
