LabRats Schools Out

The LabRats Schools Out provides students who have an interest in STEM with an opportunity to engage in a variety of science and math activities.

ECU hosts LabRats Schools Out at its Joondalup campus during the summer break in January, and introduced a Bunbury program in 2024. The program aims to boost high school students’ interest and participation in science and math, raise their awareness of STEM careers, and encourage them to continue their science studies onto senior school and University. ECU welcomes students aged 14-17 (high school Years 9, 10 and 11) from across Western Australia, to participate in fascinating science-based activities and workshops facilitated by a welcoming team of ECU scientists and current students.

The program will introduce students to STEM disciplines and activities including, but not limited to:

Biological Science
Chemistry
Computing and Cyber Security
Conservation and Wildlife
Data Science
Engineering (Robotics)
Environmental Science
Forensic Investigation
Marine and Freshwater Biology
Mathematics
Medical & Health Science

Joondalup Program

This program will run in January 2025. Each day consists of a combination of workshops, lectures, student life activities and maybe even an excursion. It runs across three full days:

Bunbury Program

This program will run in January 2025. Each day consists of a combination of workshops, lectures, student life activities and maybe even an excursion. It runs across two full days:
