LabRats Schools Out

The LabRats Schools Out provides students who have an interest in STEM with an opportunity to engage in a variety of science and math activities.

ECU hosts LabRats Schools Out at its Joondalup campus during the summer break in January.  The program aims to boost high school students’ interest and participation in science and math, raise their awareness of STEM careers, and encourage them to continue their science studies onto senior school and University. ECU welcomes students aged 14-16 (high school Years 9 and 10) from across Western Australia, to participate in fascinating science-based activities and workshops facilitated by a welcoming team of ECU scientists and current students.

The 2024 program will introduce students to STEM disciplines and activities including, but not limited to:

  • Biological Science
  • Chemistry
  • Computing and Cyber Security
  • Conservation and Wildlife
  • Data Science
  • Engineering (Robotics)
  • Environmental Science
  • Forensic Investigation
  • Marine and Freshwater Biology
  • Mathematics
  • Medical & Health Science

2024 Joondalup Program

This program will run in January 2024.  Each day consists of a combination of workshops, lectures, student life activities and maybe even an excursion. It runs across four full days:

  • Date: 17-19 January 2024
  • Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm
  • Venue: ECU Joondalup Campus, 270 Joondalup Drive, Joondalup WA
