Marine Radioactivity & Tracers

This research theme focuses on the investigation of marine environmental processes using radioactive isotopes as tracers. Research projects here include matters such as the effects of submarine groundwater discharge, declining sea-ice in the poles, impacts of radioactive materials in the environment, the oceans role in global climate change, and the reconstruction of historical patterns of climate, pollution and other natural and anthropogenically driven processes. Research undertaken in this theme will utilise a multi-institutional environmental radioactivity laboratory purposely built and managed by Centre staff.
