Overview of thesis

My Masters research project aims to identify the mechanisms by which digging mammals influence litter decomposition and fuel dynamics in Australian forest ecosystems. The project will investigate whether litter burial beneath spoil heaps accelerates decomposition compared with surface litter exposed to photodegradation, whether spoil heaps support distinct decomposer fungal communities, and whether these microsites provide thermal refugia for fungi during fire.
