Naomi Sharp

Background

Naomi has a background in Marine Biology and Conservation with a focus on marine megafauna. Her research interests include using photo ID to understand population dynamics and reproductive parameters of humpback whales. Naomi’s current research focuses on the population ecology of Western Australian humpback whales using Exmouth Gulf as a nursery and resting area, drawing on long-term photo-identification data. Naomi is passionate about marine mammal conservation, contributing to science-to-management, and collaborating with researchers and stakeholders to support evidence-based conservation outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of science majoring in Marine Biology, minor in Wildlife and Conservation Biology, Murdoch University (2020-2023)
  • PADI advanced Scuba Diver
  • Freedive certified
  • First Aid, CPR, and Advance Resuscitation and provide O2 certificates.
