Kathryn is the Acting Dean of Graduate Research and Professor of Marine Science in the School of Science. She is Acting Director of Centre for People, Place and Planet and a member of the Centre for Marine Ecosystems Research.

Background

Kathryn has been employed at ECU since 2005 with her career commencing as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2005-2015), Senior Research Fellow (2015), Senior Lecturer (2016-2018), Associate Professor (2019-2022) and Professor (from 2023). Her research leadership roles include Director of Centre for Marine Ecosystems Research (2018-2021), Associate Dean of Research (2021-2026), Acting Director of Centre for People, Place and Planet (2026) and Acting Dean of Graduate Research (2026). She has a BSc (Hons) First class from University of Western Australia (1994), a PhD in Marine Ecology from University of Queensland (2005) and High Performance Leadership training from University of Oxford (2025).
