Dr M Ali Hur

Ali is a Lecturer in Computer Science in the School of Science. He teaches and coordinates cybersecurity units and researches AI-driven cyber threat intelligence, with a focus on knowledge graphs and neurosymbolic AI.

Background

Ali is a Lecturer in Computer Science in the School of Science at Edith Cowan University. He holds a School Early Career Research Grant (January–December 2026) for "TKG-RAG for Cyber Threat Intelligence: Autonomous Temporal Knowledge Graphs for Explainable AI." With several years of experience across AI, knowledge graphs, cybersecurity, and software architecture, he was a Research Fellow at Flinders University on quantum computing for energy systems (February–May 2025) and generative AI for inclusive ICT curricula (May–December 2025). He has contributed to a CSIRO research project hosted at ECU (August 2025–April 2026) and, in industry, served as AI and Cybersecurity Advisor for PureSquare and Secure.com (2024–2025). Earlier senior roles include Solution Architect at Stella Technology (2017–2019), Team Lead R&D at Trillium Information Security Systems (2016–2017), and Technical Team Lead at NUST SEECS (2009–2014). He previously taught as a casual academic at ECU from December 2022.
