Parking infringements

ECU use the iMaas system for all infringements.

A user guide for iMaaS is available here: IMaaS User Guide

If you have received a parking infringement at ECU, you can find information below on how to pay or appeal your notice.

ECU is authorised to issue penalties for breaches of the Lands and Traffic By-Laws.

  • Maximum penalty: $250.
  • Reduced early payment penalties: $25.00 or $60.00 (depending on the infringement).
  • ECU engages the Fines Enforcement Registry to recover unpaid penalties.
  • Additional administrative and legal fees may apply for overdue fines.

Unpaid infringements may be escalated to court via the Fines Enforcement Registry. This may result in further enforcement action, including suspension of a driver’s licence.

Staff and students are strongly encouraged to resolve infringements promptly.

Parking infringements must be paid via the iMaaS Portal.

  • Cash payments are not accepted.
  • Payments should be made as soon as possible to avoid escalation.

If you wish to appeal a parking infringement:

  • Appeals must be lodged via the iMaaS Portal.
  • Appeals must be submitted within 14 days of the infringement date.
  • Verbal appears are not accepted.

You may choose to have your case heard by a Magistrate rather than processed through the Fines Enforcement Registry.

All vehicles parking on ECU land between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm on weekdays must have either:

  • A valid ECU ePermit, or
  • A valid PayStay parking session.

Additional requirements:

  • Vehicles must park within marked bays only.
  • Parking rules apply all year round, including semester breaks and vacations.
  • Parking areas are clearly signposted and must be followed according to permit or visitor entitlements.
  • Parking on verges, grassed areas, roads, or pathways is not permitted.

Breaches of the By-Laws are strictly enforced and may result in infringement notices.

To reduce the risk of receiving a fine:

  • Read the ECU Lands and Traffic By-Laws before parking on campus.
  • Ensure your vehicle details and permit information are up to date in the ePermit Self Service Portal.
  • Confirm your PayStay session is active and correctly registered before leaving your vehicle.
  • Only park in designated marked bays.
