Parking

Parking at ECU is divided into clearly identified zones for staff, students and visitors, outlined on our campus maps.

Parking permits

Parking permits are required to park in all ECU parking zones between business hours (7.00am - 5.00pm weekdays).

Purchasing a permit does NOT guarantee you a parking space on the Campus.

ECU takes no responsibility for damage or theft from your vehicle while parking in ECU car parks.

With the exception of ACROD areas, no permits are required for parking after hours, with staff and students encouraged to park as close as possible to buildings to aid personal safety whilst on campus.

ACROD parking bays

ACROD permit holders are not required to pay for parking at ECU when they park in an ACROD bay (so do not need an ECU permit). If ACROD parking is full, ACROD holders are advised to pay and park in the visitor parking area.

Athena SWAN parent parking bays

ECU has 91 dedicated Athena SWAN parking bays for staff and students with parenting drop-off responsibilities and/or carer responsibilities. Bays are clearly marked in purple with signage that shows the ECU and Athena SWAN member logo.

Visitor Paystay Parking

Visitor parking at ECU is available to members of the public.

Where to park

  • Visitor parking bays are located in designated areas of selected car parks only.  Please refer to our campus maps for locations.
  • Visitor bays are line-marked in green.

Payment

  • All visitor parking must be paid for digitally via the Paystay app.    The relevant Paystay code is displayed on signage within each car park.
  • Paid parking hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Visitors must ensure they have purchased sufficient time for the duration of their stay.
  • Car Park 20 offers reduced hourly rates for visitors.

Time limits

  • Parking time can be extended remotely via the Paystay app if additional time is required.  The exception to this is Car Park 1 which has a maximum stay of 2 hours with no return within 4 hours.
  • Car Park 15 has limited Visitor Parking for ECU Sports and Fitness users only.  The relevant code to enable this parking is available from gym staff.  This also has a maximum stay of 2 hours, with no return within 6 hours.

Contractor Parking

Contractors must attend the CSO office and request the code from staff to obtain free daily parking. The responsibility is on the Contractor to complete this task and enter all details correctly. This must be done at the start of each day.

Contractors can park in any blue or red bays.

Infringements

If you have been issued with a parking infringement at ECU, find out how to pay or appeal the infringement.

The following tips may assist you in avoiding a parking infringement in the future:

  • Read our ECU Lands and Traffic By-Laws prior to parking on ECU grounds.
  • Ensure that your parking permit and vehicle details are correct on the ePermit Self Serve Portal.
  • Ensure that your visitor parking session is paid for and correct on the PayStay application.
  • For the protection of the University environment, and for the safety of students, staff and visitors, vehicles are not permitted to park on verges, grass areas, roads or pathways.
