ECU nursing student Sevita Gibbs has been awarded the inaugural Ramsay Health Care WA Scholarship. We would like to thank Ramsay Health Care WA for their generosity, and commitment in supporting the next generation of nursing professionals.

The establishment of the scholarship was facilitated by a strong relationship between Professor Cobie Rudd, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Partnerships), and Anne Green, Regional Training and Development Manager WA. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist an ECU undergraduate nursing student by reducing some of the financial burden that can be experienced, as well as to assist recipients to progress in their chosen career.

The scholarships will be awarded annually for the next three years and are to the value of $3 000.

Manager, Development, Natasha Allchurch said that scholarships such as the Ramsay Health Care WA Scholarship can make a real impact on the University experience of our students in their everyday lives.  “It can be the deciding factor in ensuring a student continues on with their studies and achieves their career aspirations. I get to see every day the incredible impact scholarships have on our student experiences thanks to the generosity of individuals and organisations like Ramsey Health Care WA”.

Sevita Gibbs, a mother of three children and a full time student, is the second generation in her family to aspire to be part of the nursing profession. Sevita’s mother, Anita Macri, is also a nurse and studied Nursing at ECU. Sevita said at the presentation ceremony on 6 March 2016 that she feels very fortunate to receive the first Ramsey Health Care WA Scholarship. “This scholarship will be a huge help financially. Most prominent in my eyes has been the overwhelming support student nurses can receive here at ECU and financially, well this will be a huge help, thank you Ramsay Health Care!”

Sevita is a truly deserving recipient and we wish her well on her future journey and in her nursing career.

A range of scholarships are offered at ECU to help both current and future students complete their studies.  For more information, visit ECU’s scholarship webpage
