Research and creative activity

The School of Arts and Humanities is home to a diverse range of research groups showcasing a wide variety of disciplines in the school, reflecting our broad focus on human interaction in its many forms.

In addition, these disciplines are spread across ECU’s three campuses. This spread of discipline and geography contributes to a vibrancy of research culture that is sure to satisfy the needs of most postgraduate researchers.

Research support

The School of Arts and Humanities is committed to providing a high level of service to staff and students undertaking research activities. Support from research and writing consultants is available to help research students and staff improve their writing skills, as well as improve their quantitative and statistical analyses. Postgraduate funding support is also available.

Positive goal engagement can play an important role in helping people to maintain a sense of well-being when living with chronic pain, according to new ECU research.

University Research Medal Winner

Writing PhD graduate Dr J.R. Jackson has won the 2018 University Research Medal for her thesis, "A coat of ashes: A collection of poems, incorporating a metafictional narrative - and - Poetry, Daoism, physics and systems theory: a poetics: A set of critical essays".
