Mahmood Ul Hasan

Overview of thesis

Postharvest management of weight loss and quality of apple fruit during long term storage.

The ultimate objective of PhD work is to provide solution to the stakeholders of apple fruit industry by resolving this key problem of higher water loss during storage prevailing in apple cultivars growing in Western Australia.

Research

Research Interests

  • Assessment of preharvest factors affecting fruit quality
  • Understanding physiological and biochemical processes and factors affecting shelf life and quality (consumer and nutritive aspects) of perishables.
  • Developing relevant solution to the problems for improving value chains of fresh horticultural produce to help farming community and industry stakeholders.

Other work

  • 2018-19 - Volunteer Team Member.  Assisted voluntarily as team member of PRTC for ACIAR assignment of road testing the Mango Quality Manual in Pakistan under “Enhancing Mango Fruit Quality in Asian Mango Chains” aims at improving quality standards and the development of common language, easy and brief draft in Asian countries.
  • March-May 2016 - Internship.Worked as short-term internee at Date Palm Research Sub-Station, Jhang, Punjab, Pakistan performed couple of experiment on aerial suckers for developing root system on plant and assisted in layout of new block for exotic date palm germplasm.
