Tawfeek Khedr

Overview of thesis

Tawfeek’s current research is focused on the analysis of alkaloids in lupins using LC-MS/MS. The project includes the development of an analytical method for alkaloids testing in different lupin species. Toxic alkaloid levels will be monitored in lupin-based products to ensure their safety for human consumption. Tawfeek is also looking for identifying proteins responsible for alkaloid biosynthesis and transportation in lupin using mass spectroscopy techniques. By identifying alkaloid-related proteins, it will be possible to develop a new lupin species with low alkaloid content.
