The NAIDOC Perth Awards recognise and acknowledge outstanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisations and businesses who have made a significant contribution to our community in Perth.

Master of Teaching (Secondary) student Logan MacGregor was awarded the 2021 NAIDOC Perth Education Achievement Award on Friday, 25 June.

Nominated for his leadership and commitment to the life-long journey of education. Logan is a role model, peer, and leader within our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student community at Edith Cowan University (ECU).

Professor Braden Hill, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Equity and Indigenous and Head of Kurongkurl Katitjin described this as well-deserved success.

“It’s fantastic to see our students making an impact in our communities. Logan is a hardworking student and I have no doubt he will continue to achieve great things” Professor Hill said.

Logan says he was incredibly grateful to receive the award.

“It is really surreal, never in a million years did I think I was going to win. I am very fortunate to have such amazing people supporting me throughout my journey.”

On completion of his Master of Teaching, Logan has hopes to work regionally building Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students higher education aspirations.

“I want our future generations to know that they can do whatever they set their mind to and be that person who supports them along the way”.

Congratulations to Logan and all the other NAIDOC Perth winners, finalists, nominees.
