Background

Mikayla King is a Kalkadoon woman born and raised on Whadjuk Country of the Noongar Nation. Mikayla has worked in various levels of education over the last decade, in various roles including Aboriginal Islander Education Officer, Classroom Teacher, Acting Deputy Principal and as an Academic. Her experience is in Metropolitan Teaching Program (hard to staff) Western Australian Schools. In addition, she works as a private Aboriginal Education Consultant and is an active member of Early Childhood Australia and Australian Research for Research in Education.

Mikayla is currently completing her PhD, in ARC project Culturally Responsive Schooling and her research interests include: Culturally Responsive pedagogies, curriculum and schooling, Indigenous epistemologies and affect.
