Biography

Rashid is a Senior Lecturer of Accounting at Edith Cowan University (ECU), Australia. He is a versatile academic with over 7 years of experience teaching tertiary programs (undergraduate and postgraduate) across New Zealand and Australia. Courses he has taught include financial accounting, audit and assurance, sustainability accounting and integrated accounting projects (including training students on using accounting software such as MYOB and Xero).

Rashid is an active researcher who explores issues in corporate governance & corporate misconduct; climate accounting & reporting; water accounting & reporting; sustainability assurance and CSR. He regularly publishes in high-quality journals (ABDC A*/A and ABS 4*/3*) such as British Accounting ReviewBritish Journal of ManagementBusiness and SocietyJournal of Corporate Finance, and Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, among others. His research has been featured in several media outlets (e.g., AB magazine - ACCA GlobalThe ConversationThe Irish TimesNewsroom New Zealand, and NZ Management, among others). He has secured funding from multiple research grant-awarding bodies across countries such as Australia, New Zealand and the United States. He regularly reviews journal articles for ABDC A*/ FT50 ranked journals (see Publons profile for reviews).

Rashid has held several leadership roles throughout his academic and professional career. He served as a discipline lead – Accounting (Christchurch campus) during his tenure with Aspire2 International, New Zealand. He was the co-chair of the organising committee for the 2022 Joint BAFA Corporate Finance and Asset Pricing (CF&AP) SIG and Northern Area Group (NAG) Conference. He has been a judge for the best paper nomination committee in the 2022 Joint BAFA CF&AP SIG and NAG Annual Conference, 2022.
