A study into the use of torrefied biomass in a fixed bed biomass combustor

Biomass fuels when combusted can be a source of (renewable) energy within combined heat and power systems. The pre-processing of these fuels, using methods such as torrefaction, can be used to affect (raw) fuel properties. This PhD project focusses on the torrefaction of pellet-based biomass fuels when applied to a fixed bed biomass combustor and the factors which affect the thermal conversion processes involved.
