Dr Yujie Yuan joined Edith Cowan University (ECU) School of Engineering as a Lecturer in 2020 and is now a Lecturer and the Discipline Coordinator for Chemical, Energy, and Resources Engineering in ECU School of Engineering. She obtained her PhD in Energy Engineering from the Western Australian School of Mines (WASM), Curtin University, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from China University of Petroleum (East China).
Her research focuses on carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), hydrogen generation and storage, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) application in engineering, and oil and gas energy resources. Her work actively engages with industrial research projects, supporting the development of low-carbon energy technologies and contributing to the transition towards a net-zero future.
Dr Yuan has so far first-authored two books, co-edited one book, contributed three book chapters, and published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles in journals including Chemical Engineering Journal (IF 13.2), Advances in Colloid and Interface Science (IF 19.3), and International Journal of Hydrogen Energy (IF 8.3). Several of her publications have been recognised as Highly Cited Papers (Web of Science).
She is actively engaged in international academic contributions. She has served as Principal (Chief) Committee Chair of international conferences, including the Intelligent Technology for Power and Energy Conference (ITPEC 2025, in Amsterdam) and ITPEC 2026 (in Glasgow). She has served as an Editor and Editorial Board Member for several peer-reviewed journals, including Advances in Geo-Energy Research (IF 10.0), International Journal of Coal Science & Technology (IF 8.7), Advanced Light Materials, and Scientific Reports, and has led multiple special issues. Dr Yuan has delivered invited keynote presentations at international conferences. Her research has also been recognised by media engagement, including expert commentary featured by the Australian Science Media Centre (AusSMC).
