Overview of thesis

Fruits are integral part of human life and are rich source of nutrients, health promoting compounds and antioxidants. The current issues are short shelf life of fruits that is the main cause of fruit losses up to 60% during transportation, handling and storage. By reducing these losses, we can earn better income for farmers and supply chains managers, with more per capita fruit availability.

So, I am working on postharvest technology of WA fruits to minimize the losses and maintain better fruit quality till the consumer’s shelf. My research focusses on the innovative methods and application of organic substances with no chemical and residual effects on human health. Our aims include reduction in postharvest losses, biosynthesis of health promoting molecule and development of possible mechanism of fruits against biotic and abiotic stresses.
