Omics - Genomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics

Omics sciences use cutting edge technologies and bioinformatics to identify, characterize, and quantify biological molecules. These molecules including DNA, proteins and metabolites and provide information on the structure, function, and dynamics of cell, tissues, organisms, populations or species. Within School of Science world leading researchers address questions on the genomes in the natural environment and agriculture systems, proteomes for food and forensic science and metabolomes for biomarkers in health science.

Research areas include:

  • Conservation
  • Evolutionary theory and modelling
  • Food science
  • Health science
  • Genome assembly
  • Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS)
  • Metabolomics
  • Population Genomic software development
  • Proteomics
