Amanda is a Lecturer in Education within Kurongkurl Katitjin.
Dr Amanda Madden is a skilled, dynamic educator and researcher at Edith Cowan University, where she coordinates and teaches Aboriginal education courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her research focuses on young people's perspectives and experiences of wellbeing within educational settings, with a dedication to amplifying young voices and supporting students in sharing their lived experiences. Amanda's work encompasses two complementary research streams: wellbeing in educational contexts and culturally responsive practices in teaching. She uses student voice methodologies to explore factors within initial teacher education programs that promote successful outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Her innovative approaches have earned recognition through awards for excellence in education research. In 2021, she was named ACEL New Voice Scholar in Educational Leadership Research, and in 2019 received the Business Teacher of the Year award. Most recently, Amanda was awarded an internship with the National Academy of Social Sciences for 2025, contributing to the development of the Decadal Plan. Amanda brings extensive educational leadership experience to her academic role. She has served as Chief Examiner for WACE subjects including Accounting and Finance and Politics and Law, moderated Years 7-10 Humanities and Social Sciences courses, and participated on Course Advisory Committees. Her career demonstrates strengths in leading diverse teams, curriculum development, and creating innovative learning experiences. Passionate about developing the next generation of educational leaders, Amanda combines rigorous research excellence with a commitment to transformative teaching practices that empower both students and future educators to thrive.
