Professor Ben Farr-Wharton is the Associate Dean of Management, and Professor of Workforce Strategy, within ECU’s School of Business and Law. He is also the Deputy-Director of ECU’s Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Centre.
Professor Ben Farr-Wharton is an experienced academic and researcher with a well-established reputation for partnering with public sector organisations and those from high-risk industries to deliver impactful, evidence-based workforce solutions. His research focuses on workforce management, psychosocial safety, employee wellbeing, and organisational compassion, which are essential to building mentally healthy and high-performing teams.
Ben has led numerous collaborative projects with policing, emergency services, and local government agencies, helping to address complex workforce challenges and improve organisational outcomes. His work is widely recognised for its practical relevance and influence on policy and practice.
He serves as a committee member of the Australian Human Resources Institute Research Committee and is a non-voting member of the Western Australian Police Force Workforce Committee. These roles reflect his deep engagement with industry and his commitment to bridging the gap between research and real-world application.
Over the past decade, Ben has published more than fifty peer-reviewed journal articles and is frequently invited to speak at industry conferences and events. He also contributes regularly to public discourse on workforce wellbeing and reform. Ben maintains strong international links with policing and first responder agencies, positioning him as a trusted voice in workforce research and strategy.
