Lara is a Lecturer in Accounting in the School of Business and Law.

Biography

I developed a passion for accounting in high school when I participated in Curtin’s Excelerate Program and received the Most Outstanding Accounting Student award from the Institute of Charted Accountants in Australia in 2012. Over the last few years, this passion has extended to also include teaching accounting. Therefore, now that I have completed my PhD, I am currently working as a Lecturer at ECU in the School of Business and Law.

I started studying at Curtin University in 2013 and I completed my Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Accounting Technologies in 2016. Whilst completing my B-Com I also completed a 2 year traineeship in the Auditing department at PwC in 2014/15. I then accepted an invitation to do my Honours at Curtin and obtained first class Honours in 2017. I then launched straight into a PhD at Curtin in 2018. I completed my PhD in November 2022 with my thesis titled 'Measurement and Empirical Analysis of Student Engagement with Experiential Learning Activities'.

Whilst completing my PhD, I taught tutorials in the Curtin School of Accounting and ECU School of Accounting. I also worked part time as an administration assistant and then Financial Officer for a Hosch International and as a leasing officer for the Department of Biodoversity Conservation and Attractions.
