Dr Alam is a lecturer in Strategy and International Business at the School of Business and Law.

Biography

Dr. Muhammad Aftab Alam earned his PhD in Management from Macquarie University in 2020, focusing on open innovation ecosystems in Silicon Valley and Sydney. He holds a dual MBA in HRM and Finance, and received a Gold Medal for securing 1st position with High Distinction.

He has taught at the University of Sydney Business School, Macquarie Business School, and the University of Technology Sydney Business School, covering topics such as international business, strategic management, entrepreneurship, and research methods. Dr. Alam brings more than 20 years of industry experience across diverse cultures and sectors. He has served as a military pilot, safety auditor, accident investigator, and participant in UN missions in Northeast Africa.

Dr. Alam’s research interests are in entrepreneurship, open innovation ecosystems, international business, and strategy. He has published on these topics in leading journals, including Academy of Management Discoveries, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Journal of Air Transport Management, Australian Journal of Management, Journal of Management& Organization, and Strategic Change, among others.
