Abdul-Razak is a Lecturer in the School of Business and Law and a member of both ECU’s Strategic Centre for People, Place and Planet and the Centre for Sustainability and Governance Research.

Background

Dr Abdul-Razak Suleman is an Early-career Management Scholar whose work centres on sustainability, responsible leadership, and evidence-based organisational practice. He completed his PhD by Publication at Edith Cowan University, where his research advanced the understanding of how Green Human Resource Management (Green HRM) drives sustainability outcomes within the hospitality and tourism industry. This research, characterised by a rigorous multi-level, mixed-methods approach, has earned significant scholarly recognition, including a Best Paper Award in the "Hospitality and Society" category at the Council for Australasian Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE) 2026 Conference. Abdul-Razak also holds a Master of Philosophy in Human Resource Management (Distinction) from the University of Ghana Business School and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Education, Winneba.

An active contributor to global academic discourse, Abdul-Razak presents at leading international and national conferences, including the British Academy of Management (BAM), the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM), and CAUTHE. His research is published in high-impact journals such as the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Management of Environmental Quality. His broader research interests encompass employee wellbeing, mental health, and responsible management within emerging economy contexts.

Prior to his current full-time appointment, Abdul-Razak gained extensive experience coordinating and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate units at Murdoch University and Edith Cowan University, alongside serving as an Adjunct Lecturer in Ghana. His teaching philosophy is research-informed and practice-oriented, focusing on fostering critical thinking and real-world application, an approach that consistently results in high student engagement and excellent teaching evaluations. Ultimately, Abdul-Razak is dedicated to advancing impactful scholarship and delivering transformative teaching that contributes to meaningful organisational, societal, and sustainability outcomes.
