Clare Tai is a Lecturer (Law) in the School of Business and Law.

Biography

Before joining ECU in 2024, Clare served as a legal consultant, specialising in compliance and intellectual property issues, concurrently pursued her PhD. Clare is planned to graduate from her PhD program this year at the Law School of the University of Western Australia. Her doctoral thesis critically examines the concept of good faith in the CISG, offering a comprehensive analysis of 393 CISG cases. Notably, Clare introduced the CISG-Relational Contracting framework, a contribution to understanding contracting behaviours in international sales contract. Before completing her PhD at UWA, Clare successfully obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (major in Accounting) and a Bachelor of Laws from Murdoch University, followed by a Master of Laws from UWA and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University.

Possessing qualifications in both law and accounting, Clare provides a distinctive legal perspective on accounting reporting standards, insider trading law, and related areas. Clare's research delves into cross-disciplinary areas, relational contracting theory, international sales law, international trade financing, comparative law, contract law, digital finance, and sustainable development. Clare is also registered as a lawyer in WA and a legal practitioner in NSW.

Her academic journey has extended across Curtin University, the University of Western Australia where Clare has served as a sessional teaching staff member. Her contributions span various units, encompassing Company Law, Consumer and Competition Law, Law for Engineers, Introduction to Business Law, International Commercial Law, Business Law in Practice, among others.
