Some years ago, Sophie Sanderson swore she would never go back to formal education.

However, after working in HR and Organisational Development for many years she was offered a secondment in the Workforce Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) area of another government department.

‘While I was there, I was exposed to the tip of the D&I iceberg and the arena of psychological safety, and I wanted to know more.’

‘I found out about ECU’s Graduate Certificate in People and Culture and for the first time, was able to make the solid link between work, study and passion for something. ’The ECU course ticked all the boxes including being up-to-date and practical.’

‘My studies have influenced the way I view work and the workplace. I have often found myself applying the theories and findings from the course readings to work, and that has given me a different and wider perspective.’

‘I’m so glad that I had the courage to change my mind about study. I am seriously considering continuing onto a Masters degree!’
