The year of 2020 is set to be a busy year for Law Student Stuart Caporn. Atop his already eventful schedule, he has recently been appointed to the significant role of Competitions Coordinator for the Australian Law Students Association (ALSA) for 2020. His primary role will be to manage the ALSAConference Mooting Competitions to be held in Perth during July 2020.
“This is considered the premier annual moot season in Australia, with teams representing 42 Australian Universities in attendance. It is a great opportunity to promote ECU, the School of Business and Law and my fellow students on a national stage,”said Stuart.
To prepare Law students for the courtroom, mooting competitions are held to help refine the skills of the participants. Mooting develops confidence in public speaking, research, and presentation abilities. The competition aspect of it pits the best of the best advocates against each other to further boost these desirable skillsets for future employment.
On top of a full study load, and family commitments, Stuart is also an ECU Peer Mentor Leader for 2020 and a School of Business and Law representative for the Vice Chancellor’s Student Advisory Forum.
“I would like to graciously thank the School of Business and Law for your encouragement and support over the last two years. Enrolling to study law at ECU is one of the best life decisions I have made.”
The School of Business and Law would like to wish Stuart Caporn all the best for his continued studies at ECU and congratulate him on his new position as ALSA Competitions Coordinator for 2020.
