Professor Tim Bentley speaks about his research with guest speaker Dr Jade Pervan in the background on Zoom, and guest speaker Mr Tim Rowe to the right.
The first half of 2020 has been a challenging time for everyone. However, a silver lining has occurred for many of our researchers in the School of Business and Law. One of the areas that has seen an upswing in demand is research and information sharing, and further regarding the issue of remote workers, flexible work arrangements and working from home.
On 8 July 2020, the first Business Research Flashlight for 2020 invited guest speakers Dr Jade Pervan, Principle Research and Development Studies, Access and Heritage, BHP, and Mr Mike Rowe, Director General, Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, Western Australia, to together with Professor Tim Bentley, Associate Dean Research, share their experiences and knowledge on the topic of Flexibility and working from home: Where to from here?.
Tim Bentley is a Professor of Work and Wellbeing, and in recent months has conducted research with industry and government organisations to find the best practices for employees and employers. The guest speakers shared insight to how two large organisations has responded to COVID-19 and further has been managing its workforce, as well as participating in an interesting discussion on the outlook for future arrangements.
The event saw 98 guests in total, a number achieved through flexible event options of on-campus attendance and a livestreamed webinar, which saw Dr Jade Pervan zooming in from a remote work location.
Our next Business Research Flashlight event will be on the topic of Tourism Australia: Where to from here? with Professor Sam Huang, the world’s 5th leading output research in tourism. Register for the live streamed webinar here!
