Four senior leaders from ECU’s School of Business and Law (SBL) have been appointed to executive committees of the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC), strengthening the School’s voice in shaping the future of business education and research across the country.

The ABDC is the national peak body representing university business schools in Australia. Its executive committees bring together academic leaders to guide policy, share expertise, and drive innovation in learning, research, and global engagement.

The appointments reflect the School’s growing presence and influence in business education and industry collaboration at a national level.

Our appointed representatives include:

  • Professor Maryam Omari, Executive Dean, has joined the ABDC Executive Committee.
  • Professor Peter Galvin, Associate Dean Research, has joined the BARDsNet Executive Committee, supporting national research strategy and benchmarking.
  • Associate Professor Claire Lambert, Associate Dean Teaching and Learning, has joined the Teaching and Learning Executive Committee, helping guide innovation and quality in business education.
  • Associate Professor Suku Sukunesan, Associate Dean Strategic Partnerships, has joined the International Network Executive Committee, focusing on global engagement and collaboration.

The ABDC works to advance the standing of business education and research in Australia through policy, advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration.

With members from every Australian university business school, each of its executive committees plays a key role in shaping the national agenda.

Professor Omari said the School’s representation across multiple committees is a strong signal of its leadership and commitment to excellence.

“These appointments speak to the depth of talent we have at ECU School of Business and Law, and the values of collaboration, integrity, and ambition that drive us. I’m incredibly proud of the leadership we’re showing and the impact we’re making,” she said.
