ECU School of Business and Law (SBL) is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its students well beyond their academic studies. In April, both current students and recent graduates were recognised for their meaningful contributions and industry impact.

Graduating with an Industry Mindset

In response to longstanding challenges in road freight productivity, the Productivity Commission of Australia has been exploring opportunities to improve efficiency and drive growth in the heavy vehicle industry.

ECU’s 2025 Master of Management Information Systems graduate, Shaikh Haque Mobassir Imtiyaz Imtiyazul Haque, has contributed to the Commission’s Interim Report on Heavy Vehicle Reform.

What began as a collaboration during a final-year capstone project has evolved into nationally recognised work. His contribution is now featured in the Commission’s report, presenting an industry-linked research approach that addresses the dual challenge of improving freight productivity while accelerating decarbonisation.

The final report is scheduled for release to the Australian Government by 30 June 2026, with a public release to follow shortly after.

Star Students Recognised on the Global Stage

Tahnuma Benta Geash, a Master of Supply Chain and Logistics Management student from Bangladesh, achieved first place in the IPMA Global Collaboration Competition.

Over three weeks, participants worked in cross-cultural teams spanning multiple time zones, with representation from 62 countries. Tahnuma’s team, Team 32, outperformed 53 other teams to secure the top prize.

As part of this achievement, the team has been awarded the opportunity to attend the Global Young Crew Workshop in Hiroshima, Japan, in September 2026.

Shaping Real-World Impact

Both Shaikh and Tahnuma credited their success to the strong support and guidance from ECU academics within Business Systems and Operations, highlighting how their studies prepared them to deliver real-world impact.

These achievements reflect SBL’s commitment to leading the sector in educational excellence while contributing positively to industry and communities.

Congratulations to Shaikh and Tahnuma on their impressive accomplishments.
