Dr Gina Ambrosini is an accomplished public health nutritionist and epidemiologist whose career spans 25 years in academia and almost a decade working in senior government roles in public and preventive health.
Dr Ambrosini has an internationally recognised track record in nutrition epidemiology including nearly 100 publications. Her published research has advanced dietary assessment methodology and knowledge of how dietary patterns and food environments influence adiposity in children and young people. Through her international experience at the UK Medical Research Council in Cambridge she has sustained collaborations with researchers across the UK and Europe, with her work drawing from longitudinal studies such as the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC, UK) and the EU Childhood Obesity Project (CHOP), as well as extensive foundational work in WA's Raine Study.
More recently, Dr Ambrosini has held senior roles leading statewide public and preventive health planning, policy, evaluation, and monitoring initiatives in multiple WA government agencies. This includes leading statewide portfolios and multi-million dollar government investments in obesity prevention. Throughout her government experience she has shaped national preventive health frameworks and policies, guided reforms in population monitoring, and strengthened the use of evidence in decision‑making at state and national levels.
