Janica is a Lecturer and Placement Coordinator in the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics in the School of Medical and Health Sciences.

Background

Janica has an interest in the teaching and assessment of students during placement and has implemented a programme of assessment for the dietetics students at ECU. Janica is undertaking her PhD (Monash University) to extend this work.

Prior to ECU, Janica worked as a Senior Clinical Dietitian at Joondalup Health Campus. During her seven years as a clinical dietitian, Janica worked in a wide range of clinical areas and specialised in critical care and surgical nutrition. With her critical care experience, she completed a Bachelor of Honours (First Class) exploring the energy expenditure of individuals with  burn injuries. Supervising students in her role as a clinical dietitian inspired Janica to join the ECU Master of Nutrition and Dietetics team as the Placement Coordinator and Lecturer.

Research Areas and Interests

Janica recently completed her Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) examining the energy expenditure of individuals with a burn injury using indirect calorimetry and continues to have an interest in the field of critical care nutrition.

Janica has an interest in competency-based assessment and engaging educators in the design and implementation of these practices.
