Dr Bruna Tessarin

Bruna is a postdoctoral research fellow within Edith Cowan University, Nutrition and Health Innovation Research Institute. Her research focuses on co-designing, implementing and assessing the effectiveness of an injury prevention program for WA Police Force recruits.

Background

Dr. Tessarin is an early-career researcher, physiotherapist, and a former ballet dancer. As a clinician, she has primarily worked with athletes and pregnant women, as she also holds a specialization in Women’s Health. Dr. Tessarin completed her PhD in Brazil at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), including one-year as a visiting researcher with The Australian Ballet in Melbourne, Australia. Her research focuses on injury prevention and performance improvement in dancers, specifically investigating the Achilles tendon and ankle injuries.

Research Areas and Interests

Bruna has research interests in musculoskeletal injury prevention in active/athletic populations, performance enhancement in ballet dancers, and differential diagnosis of conditions affecting the posterior ankle complex, with particular interest in the Achilles tendon.
