WA Pride Month is finally here, marking an important time to honour the diversity, visibility, and inclusion of LGBTIQA+ people across our communities.
What began as a movement of resistance against discrimination and criminalisation has grown into a celebration of visibility and collective pride.
ECU’s Pride Month program features a series of events and collaborations that reflect our ongoing commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
We invite you to join ECU in celebrating LGBTIQA+ communities through the events below, and to explore the broader program of Pride activities in November coordinated by Pride WA here.

Join the Higher Education Australia Pride Practitioners (HEAPPs) WA Network for a relaxed networking event bringing together LGBTIQA+ and ally staff from tertiary institutions in WA. Not part of the Network? Join the HEAPPs WA Network (free) and register for the event, by contacting Bettina Lock at Bettina.Lock@murdoch.edu.au.

Sunday 7 December, open 11am-4pm @ The Living Room, Mount Lawley (ML.12.124)
As part of the launch of the ECU Queer Archiving Project, supported by WestPride Archives, this event invites current and former staff, students, alumni, and community members to help preserve ECU’s rich queer history. While ECU and its predecessor institutions have shaped education and community in Western Australia for over a century, LGBTIQA+ stories have often gone unrecorded, not just at ECU but in higher education more broadly. This collections day seeks to change that, gathering photos, memorabilia, creative works, and memories that reflect queer life across generations and campuses. Guests are also invited to view a special display of ECU LGBTIQA+ items and take a final wander through Mount Lawley Campus before ECU’s move to the City Campus.
