This research will result in an extended paper that tells the story of nicotine and tobacco use in Australia by Aboriginal people. This story firstly explains the impact of nicotine on the brain and the psyche. The extraction of nicotine and its use by traditional Aboriginal people is explored.
Observations and commentaries that indicate an institutional agenda of including Aboriginal people in the settler economy via nicotine addiction is analysed. Reasons for the exclusion of Aboriginal people from the positive impact of tobacco control strategies are explored. The latest treatment recommendations and their implications for Aboriginal people are discussed.
